A Potato is one of the most versatile root crops known to man. It can be prepared and cooked in many different ways possible either baked, boiled, pouched, add to stews and many more. There are also several types of potatoes that you can choose from depending on how you are going to accentuate it into your dish. This I'm going to tell you how to make scalloped potatoes. Maybe you are just so tired of the good old Mojos, mashed potato, French fries and stuff, you would want to recreate something new for your family and this recipe is perfect and surely worth to try. Here are the following ingredients needed to make scalloped potatoes.
5 medium potatoes 1/4 cup of butter 1 and 1/2 cup of heavy cream
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using skillet, melt the butter to low fire then sauté garlic fro about 2 minutes using constant stirring. Add heavy cream and continue to stir until fully blended. Remove from heat then season with salt and pepper, double the dose of pepper for a slight spicy finish. Peel potatoes and slice it thinly like potato chips for about 1/4 inch thick. Get a shallow casserole and carefully layer the sliced potatoes in the bottom. Cover the entire bottom of the casserole. Pour some cream into the potato and then cover with another batch of sliced potatoes, work your way up until you have used up all the sliced potatoes and cream sauce. Put it in the oven for about 45 minutes make sure to cover the casserole while doing this. After 45 minutes that is the time you remove the cover and cook it for another 15 to 25 minutes without a cover. Useful tips about this recipe, the final look of the dish should be loose and creamy. Sometimes it would tend to look dry and overcooked. So make sure to watch the timer when making this recipe. You can play and improvise other ingredients and add cheese to it you want, herbs and spices would also be good. You can even add in vegetables in it as you make it, since there is no other things to top the dish, you can slice some aromatic vegetables to make it more enticing and interesting. You can even use tomato based sauces as alternative to cream sauces. This would be a wonderful dish to serve during every meal, since its that easy , yu can sure to prepare it more everyday. |
